SALT LAKE CITY — A Box Elder County man was arrested Monday after police say he tried to push a woman out of a moving car and choked her to unconsciousness.
Douglas John Hulse, 51, of Willard, was booked into the Box Elder County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault and object rape.
“(Hulse) choked the victim to the point she lost consciousness while telling the victim to die and also telling the victim that he was going to kill her,” according to a police affidavit.
Box Elder County sheriff’s deputies were called to the northwest side of Willard Bay about noon Monday on a report of a 59-year-old woman who had been assaulted.
“(Hulse) beat up the victim while they were driving in a vehicle,” according to a police affidavit. “(He) choked the victim while they were driving in the vehicle. While (Hulse) was choking the victim in the vehicle, he was telling her if he can’t have her nobody can. ... (He) also grabbed the victim by her head and slammed the victim’s head into the steering wheel. (Hulse) tried to kick the victim out of the vehicle with his foot while the vehicle was still moving.”
The woman also told deputies of another assault earlier that same day where she was choked in a field and lost consciousness, the affidavit states. Hulse is also accused of sexually assaulting her during the same incident.
The sheriff's office said Hulse’s vehicle was located a short distance away from the woman and he “was then located some distance away from the vehicle, in an open area, unresponsive.”
Deputies said they gave Hulse naloxone and revived him on scene.
