SALT LAKE CITY — A parolee who had a warrant out for her arrest was taken into custody Tuesday night following a wild chase with police in northern Utah.
The string of events began about 7 p.m. when a Brigham City police officer attempted to pull Ryanna Kerry Ramcke’s Toyota Corolla over for allegedly driving recklessly. Ramcke, 21, sped away — going approximately 50 mph in a residential area — and ran a stop sign as the officer pursued, according to a police affidavit.
Near the intersection of Grandview Drive and Fishburn Drive, Ramcke “nearly jumped the entire intersection and then hit a pedestrian in the driveway in front of his home,” the affidavit states.
According to Brigham City police, the man suffered a broken leg.
“Ryanna continued driving through yards east on Fishburn and finally returned to the roadway,” police wrote.
Near the driveway of a church, an officer performed a PIT maneuver — using his car to bump Ramcke’s car — causing it to spin out and stop.
As officers yelled for Ramcke to get out of the car, she started the vehicle again and attempted to back up but became high centered and got stuck, the affidavit states. “While she tried to back up her car she hit one of our officers and could have seriously injured him.”
That officer had reached into Ramcke’s car through the passenger door and was attempting to take the keys out of the ignition when the car moved, according to police. He suffered minor scrapes to his shins, police stated.
A passenger was also in the vehicle, but got out after the car was stopped. That man was not arrested.
After Ramcke was arrested, she told officers she had used methamphetamine and heroin earlier in the day, according to the affidavit.
“Ryanna was on parole at the time of the arrest and committed multiple felony offenses. She also had a board of pardons warrant for her arrest,” the affidavit states.
Ramcke, of Brigham City, was arrested for investigation of DUI, failing to obey an officer’s command to stop and causing an injury, assault on a police officer, aggravated assault causing serious injury, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, failing to disclose her identity, interfering with an arrest, drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a denied license.
According to court records, Ramcke was convicted of aggravated assault and sentenced to a year in the Utah State Prison just over one year ago. She was also convicted of forgery in another case in 2019, aggravated assault in a third case and another forgery count in a fourth case.
