WEST VALLEY CITY — Formal charges were filed Wednesday against a man and his girlfriend who are accused of shooting multiple rounds at the woman’s ex-boyfriend.

Deandre Maurice Dailey, 33, address unknown, and Brittney Ann Sawyer, 36, of West Valley City, were charged in 3rd District Court with nine counts of illegal discharge of a firearm, a second-degree felony.

On July 13, at the Boulder Pines Apartments, 4020 S. 1500 West, a man had just pulled into the complex with his daughter in the car when he looked up to see Dailey and two other men running toward him, according to charging documents. The man immediately sped away. But as he fled, Dailey fired nine shots at him, the charges state. No one in the car was injured, but the car, and two other nearby vehicles, were struck, according to the charges.

Dailey then got into a car driven by Sawyer and also sped away, according to the charges.

The victim told police that Sawyer is his ex-girlfriend and mother of his two children, the charges state. Dailey is Sawyer’s new boyfriend and “has been accused of domestic violence against his children,” according to a statement in the court documents attributed to the children.

The man told police that Dailey “has repeatedly threatened to kill him,” the charges state.

Two days prior to this incident, Dailey also fired rounds at the ex-boyfriend, according to the charges. There were no reports of injuries.
