Gov. Spencer Cox talks with Jenn Drummond, right, and her seven children at the Capitol in Salt Lake City on Thursday, June 24, 2021. Drummond is embarking to become the first woman to climb the so-called “second seven” — the second-highest mountains on each of the seven continents. She has climbed two already and is preparing to climb K2, the second-highest peak in Asia and the second-highest in the world.

A Park City athlete and mother of seven with an ambitious goal got a bit of encouragement from Utah Gov. Spencer Cox on Thursday.

During a special ceremony in the Gold Room of the Capitol in Salt Lake City, Cox congratulated Jenn Drummond for her example, tenacity and determination to set a goal to become the first woman ever to climb and summit the so-called “second seven,” the second-highest mountains on each of the world’s seven continents.

“Your story is so inspirational at a time when we need a little good news and inspiration,” Cox said.

Drummond has climbed two of the peaks already and is preparing to climb K2, the second-highest peak in Asia and the second-highest in the world.
