Ernest Fredrick Demke, son of Ernst and Meta Zigahn Demke, was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on November 1, 1913. He died of cancer on December 20, 2000.
He married Rosella Myler on November 10, 1939, in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a self-educated man. He worked professionally as a painting contractor and decorator, specializing in gold-leafing numerous Angel Moroni statues for LDS temples worldwide. He was an active member of the LDS church.
Survived by children: Janet (Roy) Haws, Karen (Larry J.) Hansen, Barbara (Jim) Rizzuto, Wayne (Debra) Demke; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; brother Edmund Demke, and sisters Evelyn English and Magdaline Barraclough. Preceded in death by wife, son John, grandson Jason Hansen, son-in-law Marc W. Johnson, parents, five brothers, two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 23, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ivins Ward, 1860 South 300 East. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and at the ward Saturday, one hour prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
