MIDVALE — A fire at a Midvale apartment complex spread to six units Friday afternoon, injuring three residents and displacing many more.
Unified Fire Authority responded to the blaze at about 1:40 p.m. Friday and found smoke and flames coming from the 24-unit apartment complex at 7927 S. 600 West, according to Patrick Costin, Unified Fire Authority public information officer.
Costin said the fire spread to all three floors of the building and burned through the stairwell, forcing crews to access the blaze by ladder. Despite the difficulties, Costin said, the fire was quickly under control.
Three people were injured in the fire, according to Costin. Two were treated on scene with minor injuries and one was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Costin was unsure exactly how many people were affected, but said the residents of all six damaged units were displaced.
In addition to Unified Fire Authority, crews from Murray, West Jordan, South Jordan and Sandy fire departments responded to the blaze.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
