A new $65 million donation will fuel the next year of work by the Caring for Women and Children Initiative Consortium, Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson announced Friday.
The consortium of seven charities has helped more than 52 million women and children in 12 countries since the effort began in 2023, President Johnson said.
“Over the past three years, we have witnessed the power of collaboration,” President Johnson said.
The donation by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be used by seven charities who joined a consortium — CARE, Catholic Relief Services, Helen Keller International, The Hunger Project, iDE, Save the Children and Vitamin Angels.
The Caring for Women and Children Initiative Consortium works in Africa, Asia and Central America.
The church created the consortium model to leverage the resources of the different charities.
“We invited organizations with unique strengths and perspectives to come together around a common purpose and shared commitment to serving those in need,” said Blaine Maxfield, managing director of Welfare and Self-reliance Services for the Church of Jesus Christ.
The Relief Society’s global consortium first launched in 2023 with $44 million. Since then, funding expanded by:
- $11.8 million in 2024
- $63.4 million in 2025
The funds announced Friday mean that, since 2023, a total of $184.2 million has been donated by the church to the Caring for Women and Children Initiative Consortium.
