Kansas State football coach Stan Parrish resigned Monday effective after the season, saying he felt pressure to win and didn't have "total support of all thepeople that count."
Parrish, 42, said he made the decision in part because he didn't want to go through what happened to former Kansas coach Bob Valesente last year. Valesente was fired shortly after a 1-9-1 season in 1987."I'd seen what happens to other programs when it goes week to week and stays in limbo state as far as commitment (from the school) goes," said Parrish, who has a 2-23-1 record at Kansas State.
Parrish first told Athletic Director Steve Miller on Sunday that he was resigning effective immediately. But Parrish was convinced to stay until the end of the season. The K-State players also voted at a team meeting Sunday night that they preferred for Parrish to stay.
Kansas State is off to an 0-4 start.
