Houston, a New Jersey native, will invest in a $100 million housing project set up by Vogue Skyview Estates, a real estate development firm. The plan calls for 2,000 units to be built, 600 of which will be designated for low- and middle-income households."It is a tribute to the city of Newark when one of our own reaches the stature of a Whitney Houston," said Newark Mayor Sharp James. "However, it is an even greater tribute when that person does not forget where her roots lie and is committed to begin a part of Newark's growth and opportunity."
