Jack Lemmon, who is in Boston working on a Steven Spielberg film called "Dad," revealed some interesting family history - he was born in an elevator at Newton-Wellesley Hospital outside Boston. Lemmon, 63, says his birth might have been more conventional if his parents had not been such fanatical bridge players. They were involved in a highly competitive card game on Feb. 8, 1925, and his mother chose to continue playing despite his father's warnings that birth was imminent. "She waited a tad too long," Lemmon said. When the contractions became too much to ignore, they rushed to the hospital and promptly got trapped in an elevator. "And so I arrived under great duress in the elevator," Lemmon said.
