NEW STAKE PRESIDENCIES

New stakes have been created in Brisbane, Australia; Oaxaca, Mexico; and in Orem and West Jordan, Utah.

On Jan. 31, Elder Boyd K. Packer of the Council of the Twelve presided in the creation of the Orem Utah Northridge Stake, formed by a division of the Orem Utah Windsor Stake. Orem now has 19 stakes.Elder L. Tom Perry of the Council of the Twelve officiated Feb. 7 in the creation of the West Jordan Utah Prairie Stake, created from units of the West Jordan Utah Oquirrh Stake. There are now 11 stakes in West Jordan.

Elder John Sonnenberg of the First Quorum of the Seventy presided Feb. 7 in the creation of the Brisbane Australia North Stake from the Brisbane Australia Stake. Australia now has 18 stakes, with three in Brisbane.

Also on Feb. 7, Elder Robert E. Wells of the First Quorum of the Seventy officiated in division of the Oaxaca Mexico Stake to create the Oaxaca Mexico Monte Alban Stake. The new stake is the second in Oaxaca and the 91st in Mexico.

In addition, stake presidencies have been reorganized in Brisbane, Australia; Gulfport, Miss.; Makiling, Philippines; Mililani, Hawaii; Oaxaca, Mexico; and in Orem and West Jordan Utah.

BRISBANE AUSTRALIA NORTH STAKE: (Feb. 7, 1988) President - Douglas Walter Hill, 39, credit manager for credit union, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop and counselor. Counselors - Andrew Eric Young, 34, importer of home appliances, former bishop and counselor; Keith Guy Ardern, 36, manager for photographic equipment manufacturer, former high councilor, stake mission president, bishop and elders quorum president.

OAXACA MEXICO MONTE ALBAN STAKE: President - Valentin Cruz, 33, Mexican government employee, former president of Oaxaca Stake, stake president's counselor, high councilor, and bishop. Counselors - Emelio Chavez, 30, programming and budgeting employee for Mexican government, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, branch president, and bishop's counselor; Luis Arturo, 24, financial administrator, former high councilor and stake executive secretary.

OREM UTAH NORTHRIDGE STAKE: (Jan. 31, 1988) President - Larry V. Perkins, 55, consulting engineer, president of Orem Utah Windsor Stake prior to division, former stake president's counselor and bishop. Counselors - Michael J. Camberlango, 41, bank vice president, former stake president's counselor and bishop; Geoffrey J. Germane, 37, associate professor of mechanical engineering at BYU, former stake executive secretary, high councilor, bishop and counselor.

WEST JORDAN UTAH PRAIRIE STAKE: (Feb. 7, 1988) President - J. Kim Christensen, 36, programmer and analyst for state of Utah, former stake president's counselor, high councilor and bishop. Counselors - Ronald Lynn Stoker, 33, project engineer for medical equipment company, former bishop and counselor; Donald Jeffrey Kener, 44, electronic technician for grocery chain, former high councilor, stake Sunday School president, assistant ward clerk, and high priests group leader.

GULFPORT MISSISSIPPI STAKE: (Jan. 31, 1988) President - Richard Daniel Sones, 40, carpenter, former stake president's counselor, bishop, branch president and counselor. MAKILING PHILIPPINES STAKE: (Jan. 30, 1988) President - Jaime Flores Genota, 39, sales manager, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, and bishop. Counselors - Antonio E. Llantada, 32, area finance manager at Presiding Bishopric's Office in Manila, former high councilor and bishop; Librado Cabildo Batangantang, 38, extension services division chief in Philippines Department of Agriculture, former stake clerk, stake executive secretary, high councilor, and branch president.

MILILANI HAWAII STAKE: (Jan. 31, 1988) President - Stanley Young Quon Ho, 55, crew dispatcher for electric company, former stake president's counselor, bishop and counselor, and elders quorum president. Counselors - Donald Leroy Jenkins Sr., 51, engineer with government engine business, former stake president's counselor and bishop; August Lo, 60, quality controller for bonded materials company, former high councilor and bishop.

OAXACA MEXICO STAKE: (Feb. 7, 1988) President - Ernesto Ruiz,, owner of auto parts business, former bishop and counselor, and ward executive secretary. Counselors - Joe Luis Crisanto, 29, architect analyst for Oaxaca industrial and commercial development; Sergio Contreras, 28, construction supervisor for contractor, former stake mission president, stake Young Men president, ward executive secretary, and institute of religion teacher.
