Robert Lee "Bobby" Dodd, the legendary football coach and athletic director at Georgia Tech, died after a battle with lung cancer. He was 79.

Dodd had a record of 165-64-8 in 22 seasons as Tech's head football coach. His teams went to 13 bowl games, winning nine. He retired as coach in 1966 and as athletic director in 1976.
