The son of world famous jeans designer Gloria Vanderbilt leaped 14 floors to his death Friday from his mother's fashionable penthouse apartment in Manhattan, police said.

Carter Cooper, 23, described by a neighbor as a "model boy" and who authorities said had been treated for depression in recent months, died in the suicide leap while his mother was in the apartment.Police Sgt. Diane Kulber said no foul play was suspected in Cooper's death.
