A Spanish Fork girl remains hospitalized, but is in good condition nearly a month after a bizarre accident that caused critical injuries to her and her sister.
On July 27, Alyssa Garfield, 6, and Andrea Garfield, 10, were inside an inflated room where children jump on the air-cushioned floor. The room was used to promote Skipper's Seafood 'n Chowder House in Provo. At 6 p.m., strong winds lifted the room and threw it over the roof of the restaurant, a police dispatcher said.Alyssa suffered serious head trauma, internal injuries, multiple fractures and damage to her legs. She was taken to Primary Children's Medical Center, where she remains. She spent the 13 days following the accident in intensive care.
A hospital spokeswoman said there had been no discussion yet of Alyssa's being released.
Andrea suffered serious abdominal injuries and fractured two vertebrae. She was released from Utah Valley Medical Center Aug. 2.
