Layton City Manager Bruce Barton has been elected president of the Utah City Manager's

Association.Barton has been city manger since 1985 and for 10 years prior to that was the city attorney.

A graduate of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, Barton also earned a master's degree in public administration at BYU. As association president, Barton will also serve on the Utah League of Cities and Towns board of directors.

Barton said his goals are to foster better communication among the city managers in the state, increase opportunities for professional training and establish a postive relationship between city managers and the academic community.
