A baby boy delivered by Caesarean section after his parents were abducted, robbed and shot by an unknown gunman has died, apparently from complications related to his premature and traumatic birth, officials said.
The baby, baptized Christopher Stuart, died at 4:34 p.m. Thursday at Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he had been in neonatal intensive care since his birth Oct. 23 two months prematurely. The infant died at the same hospital his parents, Charles and Carol Stuart of Reading, had visited the evening of Oct. 23 to attend birthing classes. The Stuarts had left the hospital that evening and were abducted by a man who jumped in their car while stopped in traffic, ordered them to drive to a housing project and shot them.
Carol Stuart, 30, was shot in the head and died several hours after her baby was delivered. Stuart, 29, is in stable condition.
