A woman accused of stabbing and mutilating her three young children to death appeared "happy" and concerned for her kids during recent encounters with a family member and a volunteer firefighter.

Katrina McKay, 21, was charged Thursday with three counts of murder in the bizarre and brutal deaths of Shenika Chantel McKay, 2; Terrell Quinton McKay, 1, and Quincy McKay, 2 months. All were killed Wednesday.McKay was ordered to a psychiatric hospital for a mental evaluation. She also suffered stab wounds, apparently self-inflicted, authorities said. Police said they did not have a motive in the case.
