Former Salt Lake County Commissioner Lamont B. Gundersen died at his home, Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1989. He was 83.

Lamont Brin-ton Gundersen served two terms as a county commissioner, from 1952 to 1960, and also served as state welfare commissioner. He was appointed to President Eisenhower's committee on planning the interstate highway system.Mr. Gundersen filled a North Central States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and later served as bishop of the East Mill Creek Ward and president of the East Mill Creek Stake.

He also was first counselor in the General Church Priesthood Committee and a member of the Church Genealogy Committee.

Funeral will be at noon Saturday, Nov. 25, in the Union 14th Ward chapel, 1535 Creek Road (7400 South). Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, and at the chapel one hour before the service Saturday.
