The Sacramento Kings placed 7-foot-4 center Ralph Sampson, acquired just two months ago, on the injured list Saturday to rehabilitate his weak knees.
The Kings also announced the signing of center Greg Kite, a six-year veteran and free agent, for the remainder of the season, beginning with the Saturday night game against the New Jersey Nets.Kite, 6-foot-11, was originally drafted by Boston in 1983 and played four seasons with the Celtics. He was waived by the Celtics in February 1988 and picked up by the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers waived him last March and he was signed by the Charlotte Hornets.
The former BYU player started and played in 12 games with the Hornets last year and averaged 3.2 points and 4.4 rebounds in 17.8 minutes per game.
