The death of Amanda Blake, Miss Kitty in television's "Gunsmoke," wasn't due to cancer as a hospital and friends first reported, but from AIDS-related complications, her doctor said.

Dr. Lou Nishimura, a Sacramento internist, said Monday that Blake, 60, had throat cancer but added, "That wasn't the reason that she died."Blake, a longtime resident of the Sacramento area, had AIDS symptoms for about one year, Nishimura said. He said he didn't know how she contracted the disease.
