Patrick Ewing of the New York Knicks, who had two 40-point games last month, on Saturday was named NBA Player of the Month for November.

Ewing averaged 28.4 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.36 block shots per game during the month.He scored 43 points against Portland on Nov. 14 and had 44 points against Golden State on Nov. 29, when he also had a career-high 24 rebounds.

The 7-foot center ranks third in the NBA in scoring and second in blocked shots.

Other candidates for the November honor were Fat Lever of Denver, Reggie Miller of Indiana, Houston's Mitchell Wiggins, Karl Malone and John Stockton of Utah, Portland's Clyde Drexler, Orlando's Terry Catledge and Chris Mullin of Golden State.
