A gunman described in a pyschological examination as unlikely to harm his ex-wife burst into her house early Friday and killed her, their two daughters and her new husband before killing himself.

Neighbors identified the man, who left a note telling his parents he was "sorry for what he had to do," as Ronald Richard Burris, 45.The others, all shot to death, included his ex-wife, Shirley Mae Woody; the couple's daughters, Vicki Marie Woody, 14, and Anne Marie Woody, 6; and Shirley Woody's husband, Robert James Woody. No ages were available for the adults.

Police declined to confirm the identities pending notification of relatives.
