The state medical examiner has determined the November death of a 7-month-old boy was a homicide, a detective said Tuesday.

Efrain Ocampo died Nov. 30 at Primary Children's Medical Center. A baby-sitter brought the child to a clinic two days earlier after he was found unconscious, a Salt Lake police report said."The medical examiner had never given a cause of death of the infant," homicide detective Jerry Mendez said. A panel of experts determined the boy suffered numerous injuries.

"The injuries sustained by the infant were not as obvious as most child abuse cases where the child dies," the detective said.
