Two Hillcrest Junior High students have tied for first place in a statewide computer programming contest.

Ninth grader David Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Brown, Murray, and eighth grader Issac Carroll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Carroll, Murray, won the contest sponsored by the Utah Council for Computers in Education and Utah State Office of Education.The competition, which took place at Brigham Young University, had the contestants solve seven problems on their computers. The winners received checks of $75 each plus computer software.

Murray School District requires students to take an information technology class. A computer programming class is also available in junior high school.
