Earl Nightingale, a radio commentator and voice of the adventure character Sky King during the 1950s, has died at age 68.

The gravel-voiced broadcaster died Saturday at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital of complications following heart surgery.From 1950 to 1954, Nightingale was the radio voice of "Sky King," a rancher who used an airplane instead of a horse to fight bad guys.
