This weekend will, if tradition continues, be the busiest of the year at Lake Powell. Following is a "what is, what's not" list for Memorial Day visitors.

Closed: Because of low water, the ferry from Bullfrog to Halls Crossing will not be operating. It will resume operations on Tuesday. For the same reason the Stateline ramp near Wahweap will be closed. All launches will have to be made at Wahweap. Also, the San Juan Marina will not be open for the holiday, but should be within the next two weeks.Open: All five marinas - Wahweap, Bullfrog, Halls Crossing, Dangling Rope and Hite will be open. Food, ice and gas will be available at all five. Gas prices at the docks will be about $1.70 for regular, $1.80 for pre-mix. Because of the busy weekend, those going down without reservations may find it difficult to find a spot. Computers show rooms and R.V. spots within park boundaries filled. For up-to-date information on rooms, camping and boats contact marinas directly - Wahweap at 602-645-2433, Bullfrog 684-2233, Halls Crossing 684-2261, or Hite 684-2278. Available for rent at the marinas this year are jet skis, peddle boats, wavecutters, ski tubes, knee boards, water skis, and bob sleds.

Suggestion: The park policy on garbage is that anything taken in, must come out. "Boat it in, boat it out." Also, when possible, visitors are asked to take the time to help clean up after others. Park officials also ask that boaters, where possible, take along a portable toilet. When not possible, they ask that boaters go up at least 100 feet above the high-water line, dig a hole and bury everything.
