A new Gunnison Valley High School booster club has been organized, with Dr. Richard Nay elected as charter president.
Assisting as officers in activities of the 45-member group are Sherrie Anderson, secretary; Arlene Higgins, treasurer; Keith Anderson, Rex Brown, Earlene Hansen and Irvin Matthews, board members; and Principal Lynn McArthur, school representative.Nay said the club's goal will be to affect positive change at the high school in all areas of development, support all activities, and promote enthusiasm and pride in the school. Club members will also work toward developing community and alumni support and enhancing competitive programs.
The school will move from the 1-A to the 2-A classification in competitive activities next fall. Students will compete with those in Region Nine schools Manti, North Sanpete, Juab, Morgan, Grantsville, South Summit and Park City.
The club plans beautification and improvement of school grounds as its first project. This will include landscaping the old high school site and laying asphalt on the parking lot near the gymnasium. The high school gym is used for both school and community activities.
