Not many living people can say they received an award for public service the same day as Revolutionary War hero Marquis de Lafayette - but Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, can.

Hatch, Lafayette and two others were given American Eagle Awards Wednesday by the Invest-In-America Foundation, which describes itself as a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving free-enterprise.Hatch was given the award "for his dynamic and innovative leadership in the U.S. Senate and for his enthusiastic energies on behalf of the market economy."

Lafayette's decendants were presented his award posthumously, for "his contribution to the United States in its struggle to become a free nation and for his strong beliefs of democratic principles."

Awards were also given former ambassador Faith Ryan Whittlesey and the late Invest-In-America Foundation President Louis G. Milione.
