Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor was arrested for slapping a police officer who had pulled over her Rolls-Royce for having expired registration tags, authorities said.

Gabor, 66, was driving along La Cienega Boulevard near Olympic Boulevard shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday when a motorcycle officer noticed the registration tags on her white Rolls-Royce Corniche had expired, Lt. Jim Smith said. The officer asked Gabor for her driver's license, which also had expired, Smith said. When the officer walked back to his motorcycle to radio in the driver's license number to see if there were any warrants out for Gabor, she allegedly drove off.

The officer, who was not identified, jumped on his motorcycle and pulled Gabor over again, at the intersection of Olympic and Le Doux Road several blocks away, Smith said. The officer ordered Gabor out of her car.

"As she was stepping out she slapped the officer in the face. He immediately placed her under arrest and called for backup," Smith said.

Gabor was taken to Beverly Hills Jail and booked on suspicion of battery on a police officer, evading arrest, driving with an expired license, driving a vehicle with expired registration and operating a vehicle with an open alcoholic container, Smith said.
