A man accused of driving the getaway car after the murder of a West Valley woman in a Kearns video store last year was booked into jail this week for investigation of forgery.

Raymond Darl Young, 35, 5567 Northwest Ave., and a female companion were arrested Wednesday night at Smith's Food King, 876 E. Eighth South, after Young reportedly tried to cash a check belonging to a Bountiful man who closed his account three years ago, according to a police report.Young and the woman, 36, were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.

Young faces a trial Sept. 5 before 3rd District Judge Raymond Uno on a charge of second-degree murder.

He is accused of being the getaway car driver in the April 22, 1988, robbery of a video store during which Charles Kenneth McCovey, 44, shot and killed Anna Holmes, 31, a pregnant West Valley mother.
