At least three people were killed and nine wounded in a weekend outbreak of gang violence, authorities said Monday. The attacks included the kidnap and sexual assault of a woman Sunday by two gang members later apprehended in the victim's stolen car, police said. The latest fatal gang attack left one person dead and four wounded in a shooting at Juniper and 107th streets in the Watts area of Los Angeles at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, Sgt. Kevin McCarthy said. The victims were taken to the County Martin Luther King Jr.-Drew Medical Center where one person died, he said. One victim was in critical condition and three others were stable, he said. "It appears to be gang-related," McCarthy said. No arrests had been made. Elsewhere, two people were wounded in a drive-by shooting at Compton Avenue and Imperial Highway about 1:30 a.m. Monday, McCarthy said. The drive-by shooting was also apparently gang-related, McCarthy said. The two victims were reported hospitalized in stable condition, he said.
