The 12,000-ton Panamanian-registered freighter Lung Hao, which was broken in half Monday by Typhoon Sarah, dwarfs a crowd in eastern Taiwan. Sarah weakened Wednesday as it churned north toward China, leaving a swath of destruction and a death toll of at least 48 in Taiwan, the Philippines and Japan. The storm brought torrential rains and 110 mph wind gusts during its two-day pounding of Taiwan, where 13 people were killed and 11 were reported missing. Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau downgraded Sarah to a light typhoon Wednesday.
