The 1990 Nissan Stanza sedan will cost $749, or about 6 percent, less than the 1989 version of the car, the Japanese automaker says.

Robert Thomas, vice president and general manager of the Nissan Division of Nissan Motor Corp., said manufacturing improvements and design changes enabled the automaker to cut the base price of the Stanza XE to $11,450.The Stanza also will be offered as a GXE - an upgraded version - at a base price of $14,775.

A stronger dollar also is making imported cars more affordable as domestic makers boost the prices on their 1990 cars.
