Provo Canyon School has purchased the former Riverwood Hospital facility.
Officials said the purchase will allow the school to grow and help meet the increasing demand for residential treatment programs for troubled youth.The facility, 3 miles from Provo Canyon School's main campus, will be used to house the transitional portion of the Provo Canyon School program in which students learn independent living and work skills.
Provo Canyon School treats adolescents ages 12 to 17 who are experiencing mild to moderate behavioral, emotional and academic problems.

Provo Canyon School is owned and operated by Charter Medical Corp., based in Macon, Ga.
