Two former aides to the late President Ferdinand Marcos and three others were charged with rebellion Wednesday in last month's failed coup attempt against President Corazon Aquino, officials said.

Rafael Recto, a Marcos attorney, and Marcos press officer Lito Gorospe were among five people accused of rebellion by the justice department, senior prosecutor Aurelio Trampe said. The others were air force Col. Eduardo (Red) Kapunan, businessman Jack Rodriguez and newspaper columnist Cecilio Arillo.The charges filed by the National Bureau of Investigation named six witnesses who saw the five at the suburban government television network Dec. 1, the first day of the coup attempt, Trampe said.
