Anthony (Tony) Frederick Fischio, age 77, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away January 8, 1990 of cancer.

Born January 27, 1912 in Agnone, Italy to Nicola Carmen and Pasqualina Tisone Fischio. He came to America at age 8, and lived in Youngstown, Ohio, where he graduated from high school in 1932. He came to Pleasant Grove, Utah in 1935 with CCC's, where he met his lifelong sweetheart, Afton Gene Richins. They were married July 14, 1939 in Pleasant Grove; the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to Salt Lake in 1940, when Tony became proprieter of the Granite Lunch, affectionately known as Tony's, which he operated for 36 years. His was a life of dedication to church, youth, and community. He was an altar boy in the Catholic Church. Tony served as a Scoutmaster for five years. He joined the LDS Church in 1958 and held many callings including bishop, High Councilman, temple worker, and stake patriarch. He was a South Salt Lake City councilman, from 1981-87. He received many awards including the Utah State Chamber of Commerce Total Citizen Award.

Survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, one son, three daughters and their spouses, James A. Fischio, wife, Pat, Mrs. Robert (Patsy) Young, Mrs. Dean (Gaye) Tuttle, all Salt Lake; Mrs. Doran (Joye) Whitaker, Denver; 23 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother, Joseph N. Fischio, Youngstown, Ohio. Preceded in death by two brothers, one sister.

Funeral services, Saturday, January 13, 12 noon at the Granite Park Stake Center, 601 East Mansfield Ave. (3115 So.) Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, and Saturday at the church one hour prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to the LDS Missionary Fund. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
