A small plane piloted by actor James Brolin crashed on takeoff Friday, but the Emmy-winning star of "Marcus Welby, M.D." was able to climb out of the plane before it burst into flames, authorities said.
Brolin, 49, was not injured in the 4:25 p.m. crash at Agua Dulce Airport in the unincorporated Saugus area near Los Angeles, Deputy Sheriff Dean Scoville said.Brolin, alone in his 1978 single-engine Cessna Skylane 182, was taxiing before takeoff when the aircraft was caught in a wind rush, Scoville said.
The plane, valued at $25,000, was destroyed by the fire.
