Louisville, 10-2, also received 17 points apiece from 7-foot Felton Spencer, who grabbed 9 rebounds, and LaBradford Smith, who had 12 assists.The cold-shooting Bruins, 9-2, were led by Gerald Madkins' 15 points. Trevor Wilson and Darrick Martin scored 14 each.
Louisville scored the first 9 points of the game and quickly followed that with an 11-0 spurt, racing out to a 20-3 lead. The Cardinals built their advantage to 51-29 at the half, with UCLA shooting only 28 percent in the first 20 minutes.
Oregon St. 64, California 58
At Berkeley, Calif., Gary Payton scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half to rally No. 23 Oregon State over California.
The Oregon State star scored nine points during a 16-4 second-half run that gave the Beavers (11-2 overall, 4-0 in the Pac-10) a 58-54 lead with two minutes remaining.
Pacific U. 75, UC Santa Barbara 53
At Stockton, Calif., Dell Demps scored a game high 25 points and Don Lyttle added 23 points to lead Pacific to an upset victory of UC Santa Barbara.
Pacific captured its first conference win this season, improving its mark to 1-3 and 8-4. UC Santa Barbara suffered its first conference loss of the season, dropping to 2-1 and 8-3.
Fresno St. 67, UC Irvine 57
At Fresno, Calif., Tod Bernard scored 20 points to pace Fresno State over UC Irvine.
Fresno State, now 1-2 in conference and 6-6 overall, had a 31-26 halftime lead but UC Irvine opened the second half with a 13-4 run to take a 39-35 advantage.
Irvine still led by four with 9:19 left in the game before Pat Riddlesprigger sparked a 9-0 spurt by the Bulldogs. Riddlesprigger, who scored a career high 18 points, had 5 points to pace the rally.
Irvine is now 0-3 in conference and 2-10 overall.
