Lawrence I. Jones, 89, of Payson, died in Orem, January 31, 1990.

Born November 28, 1900, in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of Isaiah and Annie M. Gerber Jones. Married Essie Harris, December 28, 1921, Provo, Utah; marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, May 1922. Essie died January 29, 1979. He was Union Pacific Railroad employee for 40 years. Elder in the LDS Church. Member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Union. He was a baseball fan, loved music, was a prospector and chemist.Survived by his seven sons and three daughters, Mrs. Juanita Tallant, Talihina, Oklahoma; Joseph L. Jones, Lofgreen; B. I. Jones, Aralda Jones, both of Eureka; Vincent Jones, Tooele; Mrs. Carl (Beverly) Paul, Bradley, California; Dale C. Jones, Lehi; Mrs. Ren (LaRaine) Holman, Lynn Jones, both of Payson; Gene L. Jones, Santaquin; 49 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two half-brothers, Carl Anderson, Bountiful; Aaron Anderson, Pleasant Grove; sister, Mrs. Byron (Erma) Smith, Santa Clara; two half-sisters, Mrs. Thelma Harris, Lehi; Mrs. Ella Barker, Salt Lake City. A son Robert "Bob", preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Payson 1st-5th Ward, 225 South 400 East, 1 p.m. Saturday. Friends may call Friday evening, 7-9 p.m., at Holladay Hills Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin and at the Ward Relief Society Room, Payson, Saturday, one hour prior to service. Interment: Payson City Cemetery.
