Pep Boys, a chain of auto parts and service stores based in Philadelphia, will open five "automotive supercenters" in Utah this spring.
According to Pep Boys President Mitchell G. Leibovitz, the five new facilities will provide some 35 new jobs each for total employment opportunities of 175 local hires.Mitchell said the stores will be located in Murray, Orem, Riverdale, West Valley City and Sandy.
Pep Boys "Manny, Moe & Jack" was founded in Philadelphia in 1921 and is among the largest automotive aftermarket retail and service chains in the United States. Mitchell said the outlets are larger than most such stores, encompassing some 22,500 square feet with 10 service bays featuring the latest servicing equipment.
The stores stock some 17,000 items for foreign and domestic cars and trucks and the tire department carries inventories of more than 1,500 tires.
