Leah Burton Burrows died February 9, 1990 at her home in Salt Lake City after a short illness.
She was a daughter of Edward L.and Isabelle Armstrong Burton. She graduated from the University of Utah and attended Mills College, Oakland, California. She was affiliated with Chi Omega Sorority. During college she played the violin with a symphonic group. After graduation she taught English at Bryant Junior High School. She married J. Alma Burrows June 10, 1924, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was a charter member of Cleofan, The Fine Arts Club, Bonneville Knife & Fork Club and the Town Club. She was an enthusiastic supporter of Ballet West and The Utah Opera Company.Leah Burrows is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Leahand H. Whitney Felt and Marion and Nicholas G. Smith, and by 12 grandchildren: James W. Felt and wife Tammy Green, Marion Watson and husband Robert, Edward B. Felt and wife Deborah Bray, George B. Felt and wife Debora Gundersen, Louise F. Christensen, Kathleen Smith, Sharon Christenson, Lindy Burton and husband Mark, Robin Smith, Wendy Michie and husband James, Charlotte Davison andhusband James and Niki Lee Smith; and by 23 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Fred A. (Sarah) Moreton, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Edward L. (Catherine) Burton, Jr., and Mrs. R. Harold (Maybelle) Burton; and 12 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband and by three brothers, Edward L. Burton, Jr., Francis A. Burton, and R. Harold Burton.
Private funeral services will be held for the family. The family suggests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Ballet West, the Utah Opera Company or Network Against Child Abuse, P.O. Box 146, North Salt Lake, Utah 84154. The family wishes to thank Leah Burrows' dear friends for thelove and happiness they have given her for many years.
