BYU's women's tennis team was beaten 6 to 3 by Central Region rival Oklahoma State Thursday, but the Cougars outplayed the Cowgirls at the top of the singles ladder and at No. 2 doubles. All-American Mary Beth Young at No. 1 singles salvaged her first set with Monika Waniek with a 7-6 (9-7) tiebreaker, yielded the second set 4-6, and then reeled off four straight games in the third set. Young closed out the match 6-3 on serve when Waniek returned Young's scorching forehand long. At No. 2 singles, unranked Cougar Anna Funderburk stepped in for ailing Monika Kobilikova to upset veteran Cowgirl Jackie Booth 1-6, 7- 5, 6-1.
