Sylvester Stallone and Bo Derek were the big losers at Sunday night's 10th annual Golden Raspberry Awards when they were named the worst performers of the decade.
The Razzies, announced for the past 10 years on the eve of the Academy Awards, spoof the Oscars by honoring the worst pictures, performances and direction of the year. The 275-member Golden Raspberry Award Foundation this year expanded its presentaions to include the most pathetic efforts of the past 10 years.
None of the "winners" accepted an invitation to attend the program at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, the site of the first Oscar awards presentations 62 years ago.
Stallone was awarded a Razzie for worst actor of the decade for his performances in "Rhinestone," "Rambo II," "Rambo III," "Rocky IV," "Cobra," "Over the Top," "Lock Up" and "Tango & Cash."
Although he was also nominated for worst actor of 1989, Stallone lost out to William Shatner, who drew the attention of the journalists and film buffs who comprise the Razzie membership for his performance in "Star Trek V."
Shatner beat out Stallone, Tony Danza, "She's Out of Control"; Ralph Macchio, "The Karate Kid III"; and Patrick Swayze, "Next of Kin" and "Road House" for the alleged honor.
Derek was voted worst actress of the decade for her performances in "Tarzan the Ape Man" and "Bolero."
The blonde glamour girl, however, wasn't even nominated for worst actress of 1989, a dubious distinction that went to Heather Locklear for her role as the victim in "The Return of the Swamp Thing."
Locklear was victorious over Brigitte Nielsen, "Baby"; Jane Fonda, "Old Gringo"; Paulina Porizkova, "Her Alibi" and Ally Sheedy, "Heart of Dixie."
Voted worst picture of 1989 was "Star Trek V" over "The Karate Kid III," "Lock Up," "Road House" and "Speed Zone."
