Chris James Luras, formerly of Salt Lake City, passed away March 2, 1990 in Alhambra, California after a long illness.
Born April 15, 1920 in Bingham Canyon, to James and Stamati Zovas Luras. Married Helene Kerikas December 30, 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Former owner of Liberty Bell Bakery. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church, where he served in the way he loved best, by preparing foods and breads for church activities and festivals in both Utah and Southern California. He was a past member of the Men's Panahaikos Society in Salt Lake.Survived by wife, Helene, sons, James Luras and wife, Tammi, Alhambra, California; Dr. John Luras, Santa Barbara, California; grandson, Christopher; brothers, Andy Luras, Salt Lake City; Pete "Tyke" Luras, LaVerne, California; sister, Francis Velis, Spokane, Washington; many nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by brothers, Alex and George.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Wednesday, 2 p.m., 279 South 300 West. Friends may call at Neil O'Donnell Mortuary, 372 East First So., Tuesday between 7-8 p.m. Prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
