Former Brigham Young University and Seattle Seahawks' running back Eric Lane will be inducted Saturday into the California Community College Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Lane attended Hayward High and Chabot College before transferring to BYU, where he was the leading rusher in 1979 and 1980. The durable fullback gained 1,068 yards on 190 carries for a 5.6 average. He also scored 21 touchdowns on the ground and caught 82 passes for 904 yards and 5 TDs.The nephew of former Utah State and NFL running back MacArthur Lane played 97 games in seven seasons with the Seahawks. In 1984 he had 299 yards rushing and 11 receptions for 101 yards.
Eric Lane was Seattle special teams captain from 1983 to '86 and that unit led the NFL in kickoff coverage twice and was second once. In 1983, Seattle became only the second team in league history to lead in both kickoff and punt returns.
