Emmy Judge Johnson, a former dancer with the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, visited the city recently. She received her BFA in modern dance at the University of Utah, and danced with Ririe-Woodbury for five years, including world-wide touring and choreographing for the company.

When she left Salt Lake City in 1985, she went to New York City where for three years she choreographed and taught dance in all five boroughs, with Art Connection. She then returned to Minneapolis, her home town, where she is teaching at the Children's Theatre Company of the Minnesota Conservatory of the Performing Arts, the Jewish Community Center, and the Guthrie Center.Emmy has a June concert scheduled with members of the New Dance Ensemble and Independent Dancers, presenting a program of progressive choreography inspired by the healing process. She will premiere three of her own choreographies - "The Healing Ground," "Internal Pathways," and "Return to the Mountain," plus "Aborted Connector," which premiered at the Capitol Theater. She is a 1990 recipient of a fellowship from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

- TERRY MELTON, executive director of the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF), will resign his position effective May 31. A founding member of WESTAF, Melton has served as executive director since 1984.

Melton cited his wish to return to painting and writing, though he expressed appreciation for the growth he has seen in state, regional and local arts organizations during his 26 years in administration.
