Disneyland's aging Dumbo the Flying Elephant crash-landed, slightly injuring a teenage passenger and grounding the park ride for a least a month of repairs.

The fiberglass elephant car carrying the girl fell about 5 feet to the ground Saturday when a metal support beam snapped, Disneyland spokesman Bob Roth said Tuesday."Wear and tear is what it amounts to," Roth said. "We'll have to wait to see what work needs to be done, but it'll be closed at least a month."

The 13-year-old girl was treated at Disneyland's first aid station for a bumped nose and minor bruises, Roth said. She was taken to a hospital and returned to the park later in the day. The Fantasyland attraction, based on an elephant in a Disney animated feature in the 1950s, is among the oldest in the 35-year-old theme park.
