Tuition at the Davis Applied Technology Center will increase by 5 cents per instructional hour starting July 1.

The board of directors voted for the increase to offset the rising costs of state-of-the-art equipment, said Jack Shell, center director. An instructional hour currently costs 60 cents but will increase to 65 cents July 1, costing a full-time student an average of $6 more per month, Shell said.

The center, formerly known as the Davis Area Vocational Center, provides training in a dozen technological fields. Most programs can be completed in 18 months or less. Pell grants and other federal funding are available to eligible students, Shell said.
