William Scott McLachlan was taken suddenly from his loving wife of 52 years and his five children on May 19, 1990.
Scott was a kind and gentle man who was filled with integrity. His pioneer heritage and love of truth helped to build his character and develop the courage he needed in his early years on the farm and during the many trials of his family. He brought out and looked for the best in everyone he met. He loved the Lord and His goodness. Reason, beauty and truth were the cornerstones of his life. Scott has indeed left a rich heritage for his six children, 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. So many lives were blessed and enriched during his time here on earth.Scott was born February 21, 1913 in Taylorsville, Utah to John Lloyd and Jeanette West McLachlan, the third of ten children. He married Ida (Billie) Cooper in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 8, 1938. Scott was a real estate broker, a mink rancher and most importantly a loving father. He was always active in the LDS Church, and held various positions throughout his lifetime. He was very proud of his pioneer heritage.
He is survived by his wife, five children, Scott and Julie McLachlan of Lehi; Patrice and Gerald Eggett of American Fork; Mark and Claudia McLachlan of Salt Lake City; Gilbert and Julie McLachlan of American Fork; Nora and Robert Wood of Salt Lake City; 23 grandchildren, l0 great grandchildren; one brother, James W. McLachlan of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Lucille Cooper of Salt Lake City and Janet Smith of Idaho Falls. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Diane, five brothers, Jack, Owen, Marvin, Steve, Ralph and one sister, Agnes.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, 12:00 noon, Salt Lake 12th Ward Chapel, 630 E. 100 South. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Tuesday 6-8 pm and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
