McDonald's Corporation has announced its 8,200-plus U.S. restaurants will post complete nutrition information - including all ingredients and nutrient values.
Nutrition information will be posted by the end of July.Ed Rensi, President of McDonald's U.S.A., said the decision to be the first restaurants nationwide to post complete nutrition and ingredient information on all permanently listed menu items is a "natural step in our longstanding commitment to provide our customers with this information, which we began offering nearly two decades ago."
Dr. Helen Guthrie, editor of Nutrition Today, holder of the first Endowed Chair of Nutrition at Penn State University, and author of one of the most widely used college textbooks on nutrition said McDonald's action to post nutrition information at the point of purchase "is an important step in the restaurant industry, and I certainly hope that other restaurants, from hot dog stands to four-star restaurants, follow McDonald's lead."
McDonald's is the world's leading foodservice organization, serving 22 million people each day in 52 countries.
